Emprenda: Leader in renewable energy projects with social impact After a strong first quarter in its city and rural microfinance operations, Emprenda -Grupo ACP’s microfinance company in Argentina- added one more milestone to its efforts to become the region’s leader in developing renewable energy solutions with social impact.
Through a partnership with Vivencia -Grupo ACP’s Peruvian arm for real estate and infrastructure development projects- Emprenda started selling in April its “Genera” photovoltaic cells in rural and peri-urban areas in Piura department, in northern Peru. This project is the beginning of a solar energy initiative of major social and environmental impact that Emprenda will subsequently replicate in other regional countries.
The first photovoltaic set sold was a small-sized solar lamp that will provide users better quality lighting at low cost. Sun powered lamps replace kerosene lamps, a serious health threat.
The solar lamp is included in a large portfolio of solar energy solutions sold by “Genera” to reduce the exclusion from sustainable energy sources suffered by millions of households throughout Latin America.
